Our Story

We are John and Marcia, the owners and creators of Locked In Escape Rooms. We not only enjoy having you come play our creations, our passion is to also play other escape games. Currently our combined total number of games we've played is almost 400. We've played games around the world, on every continent, in 12 different countries. Here we are in Antarctica, having played this escape game from a box so we could say we've played on every continent.
This is "El Fin del Mundo," (The End of the World) in Ushuaia, Argentina, named this for being the southern most place in the world a game can be played. A map of places we've played. We hope to add many more games to it. Our greatest loves in life are God, family, a grandchild, traveling, and playing escape rooms. We plan our vacations to always include some escape games. Some of our favorite experiences; we played an escape game on a real boat that was filling up with water and we had to get the pumps on to save ourselves, we've been transported up to an alien spaceship and gone deep under the ocean to ancient Atlantis. We've survived being chased by scary beings, saved the world several times, been a rat in a lab, and so many other unique adventures. That's why we love escape games - the possibilities are endless, the fun is fabulous and their creativity inspires us. We played our first game in May of 2015. We didn't even know what they were but our family was backpacking in Europe and we kept seeing "escape games" so I booked one in Budapest, Hungary. We had a great time. But look at this picture of John and 2 of our sons playing in Budapest. The industry has come a long way. Fast forward a few years.... Escape Rooms have now come to the United States and are gaining in popularity. John and one of our sons are skiing in Colorado where they play a game that was owner created and owner run. There are no escape games close to where we live and the creative idea was born on the plane ride home to build one. It took us over a year to find the right location, pick our themes, sit in an empty shell of a building to plan our games and lay out wood pieces on the floor as we dreamed of what could be. Sometimes when we see the empty building pictured that we started with, we even amaze ourselves that we were able to create the fun environment it is today. Our family totally creates, plans and builds our games so they are unique. We get the greatest joy when people come out of a game and express how much fun they just had. John still works as a realtor with Florida Homes and Realty (shameless plug here) He and our daughter Melanie are a fabulous real estate team if you want to buy or sell a house (904-710-2225.) Although John has over 30 years experience with real estate, you still might catch him moonlighting as a pirate or see him in loading the plane to Paradise Island or hanging out as Indiana Jones in Egypt. If you come to us, we simply want you to have fun. Whether you are a first time player or experienced, We simply want you to have fun when you come to us. We've been open for over 6 years now, having opened in May of 2018, the first escape room in Clay County.
